Job Title: Transport Manager
Location: Wincanton
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000
Shift Patterns: 07:00am start 45 hour week (must be flexible to work over due to the nature of this role)
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Transport Manager to oversee all aspects of transportation operations. The Transport Manager will be responsible for efficiently coordinating the movement of goods and personnel, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimising routes, managing a fleet of vehicles, and supervising a team of drivers and logistics staff. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail to ensure the smooth and cost-effective operation of the transportation department.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimise efficiency and reduce costs.
Coordinate and schedule transportation activities, including the movement of goods and personnel.
Oversee the dispatching of vehicles and drivers to ensure timely delivery of products or services.
Monitor transportation operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Analyse transportation data.
Planning all areas of transport for three depots across the UK.
Develop and implement training where needed.
Collaborate with other departments such as logistics, supply chain and sales to streamline processes and improve overall service.
Stay informed about industry trends, regulations and best practices to make informed decisions and maintain compliance.
Managing a fleet of up to 70 HGV’s.
Ensuring jobs are running on time.
Qualification/experience:
CPC is required for this role.
Experienced in removals/home delivery is preferred.
UK and European Road Network knowledge is preferred.
Atleast 5 years experience as a transport manager with proven success.
Excellent knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards and compliance requirements.
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
willingness to work flexible hours and travel when needed.
Computer literacy.
Working hours :
Monday – Friday 07:00 – finish
